The Vilar Performing Arts Center (VPAC) invites adventurous music enthusiasts to discover, or re-discover, seven acts as part of the newly announced Underground Sound series this fall (Sep. \u2013 Nov). Series passes (7 shows, 7 drinks) are only $100 and go on sale Monday, August 18 at the VPAC Box Office (970.845.8497\/www.vilarpac.org<\/a>). Single tickets will go on sale Monday, September 8. The VPAC is located under the ice rink in Beaver Creek Village (68 Avondale Lane, Beaver Creek, Colorado). All Underground Sound performances begin at 7:30 PM.<\/p>\n

VPAC Executive Director Kris Sabel states, \u201cI realized that for those of us who live and work year round in our community there was a lull of great entertainment opportunities in the off-season and saw this as an opportunity for us to give back to the community and provide a way to bring incredible but perhaps less well known artists into our amazing venue. Truly a win-win for all involved, I hope people will come out to support the arts and have a great time.\u201d<\/p>\n

Underground Sound opens with a concert by world-renowned Dobro master and 13-time Grammy Award winner Jerry Douglas (Sunday, September 28). Douglas was recently seen performing at the VPAC performing with Alison Krauss and Union Station in July. He returns for a much anticipated performance playing music from his most recent album – Traveler. Up next is the cutting-edge steam punk experience Cirque Mechanics: Pedal Punk (Sunday, October 5). These daredevil performers reinvent the wheel, so to speak, with circus flair that\u2019s perfect for audiences of all ages. The October 5 performance will be the company\u2019s world premiere of Pedal Punk. <\/p>\n

VPAC then welcomes The Hot Sardines: Speakeasy Nights (Sunday, October 12) performing their style of history-defining jazz of the 1920\u2019s, 30\u2019s, and 40\u2019s, and featuring their very own tap dancer! Newcomers to the indie-folk scene HoneyHoney will bring their unique sound to the VPAC stage (Sunday, October 19). Paste describes the L.A.-based group as \u201c\u2026the common pop thread between alt. country, spaghetti western soundtracks and swampy blues.\u201d <\/p>\n

Continuing the neo-folk trend is singer-songwriter Suzanne Vega (Sunday, October 26) \u2013 a Greenwich Village native best known for her iconic 80\u2019s hits \u201cTom\u2019s Diner\u201d and \u201cLuka.\u201d Following this is indie-folk band Nora Jane Struthers and The Party Line (Sunday, November 2). This compelling story-telling artist weaves classic Americana into her guitar driven narratives. Struthers was originally scheduled on the 2013 series, but had to cancel due to the death of her grandmother.<\/p>\n

Finally, VPAC closes the 2014 Underground Sound series with the smoldering hot vocals of Storm Large & Le Bonheur (Sunday, November 9) performing selections from their newly released self-titled album \u201cLe Bonheur.\u201d Their concert will showcase the band\u2019s visceral talent and prove their original music lives up to their eccentric name.<\/p>\n
