EAGLE COUNTY, Colo. \u2014 May 20, 2020 \u2013 Local towns and Eagle County community\u00a0organizations are coming together to launch a new marketing campaign aimed at\u00a0inviting second-home owners to relocate to the area.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

As a community dependent on tourism, Eagle County has been severely impacted as a\u00a0result of the COVID-19 pandemic . Nearly half of the local workforce provides services for\u00a0the tourism industry. While it\u2019s unknown when tourists will return to the area, it\u2019s clear\u00a0there needs to be a thoughtful strategy to quickly bring much-needed revenue into the\u00a0community.<\/p>\n

Enter the Welcome Home campaign, which invites second-home owners to \u201ccome here,\u00a0live here, stay here.\u201d By law, second-home owners enjoy the same rights and privileges\u00a0as local residents, and it is a wonderful time of year for all residents to live in Eagle\u00a0County.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are thrilled to invite our second-home owners to spend the summer season in\u00a0Eagle County,\u201d said Chris Romer, president and CEO of the Vail Valley Partnership. \u201cOur\u00a0second-home owners are both emotionally and financially invested in the area and can\u00a0help support our community and our businesses. We welcome them with open arms,\u00a0knowing they contribute to making our community whole.\u201d<\/p>\n

Thirty-eight percent of Eagle County\u2019s housing units are vacant. Filling those homes will\u00a0help to boost local spending in the area and help stabilize the local economy.<\/p>\n

Along with a new landing page, the initiative involves individual outreach in the form of\u00a0personal phone calls, mailed invitations and targeted email campaigns from area\u00a0organizations.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur community has done a great job slowing the spread of COVID-19 through\u00a0teamwork and collaboration with numerous partners across Eagle County,\u201d said Heath\u00a0Harmon, director of Eagle County public health and environment. \u201cThe same\u00a0partnerships are even more important now as we work to support the economic,\u00a0physical, and emotional health of our community while learning to live with the ongoing\u00a0presence of the virus.\u201d<\/p>\n

Those who choose to return, or relocate, to Eagle County can do so knowing that\u00a0systems are in place to maintain healthy living.\u00a0\u201cAs the community\u2019s healthcare system, Vail Health is prepared to welcome\u00a0second-home owners back into our area and has the capacity to accommodate the\u00a0Valley\u2019s physical and behavioral health needs,\u201d said Vail Health President and CEO Will\u00a0Cook. \u201cVail Health\u2019s Clean Clinic Promise is our commitment to provide a safe\u00a0environment for people to seek the care they need and deserve while in our\u00a0community.\u201d<\/p>\n
