With 21 Billboard Top 40 hits between 1969 and 1975 alone, the songs continue to surface again and again on TV commercials, in major motion pictures and on the radio. Hear all the classics live in Beaver Creek in March.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Three Dog Nights <\/strong>performs at the <strong>Vilar Performing Arts Center (VPAC) <\/strong>on <strong>Tuesday, March 3 <\/strong>at <strong>7 p.m.<\/strong> <strong>Tickets start at $85. <\/strong>Tickets are available now at the <strong>VPAC box office (970-845-8497; <\/strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.vilarpac.org\"><strong>www.vilarpac.org<\/strong><\/a><strong>)<\/strong>. The VPAC is located under the ice rink in Beaver Creek Village (68 Avondale Lane, Beaver Creek, Colorado).<\/p>\n<p>Created in 1968 by lead vocalist Danny Hutton, who is still a member of the band today, Three Dog Night holds some impressive stats. In a five-year span from 1969 to 1974, they achieved more top 10 hits and sold more records and concert tickets than any other band. They had 21 consecutive Top 40 hits. Their formula for success? The band recorded music from mostly undiscovered new songwriters of their time, including Harry Nilsson, Randy Newman, Elton John, Laura Nyro, Paul Williams, Hoyt Axton and others, which has prompted some music reviewers to call the band the world\u2019s best cover band.<\/p>\n<p>Either way, it was the group\u2019s eclectic taste, combined with their ability to recognize and record hits in a unique, distinctive and appealing style that led to them dominating the charts for years. Songs like \u201cMama Told Me (Not to Come),\u201d \u201cJoy to the World,\u201d \u201cBlack &amp; White,\u201d and many more are almost instantly recognizable for many people and for good reason \u2014 those songs all rocketed to No. 1 on the Billboard Top 40.<\/p>\n<p>Hutton is joined by Michael Allsup on guitar (an original member), Paul Kingery on bass\/vocals, Pat Bautz on drums, singer David Morgan and Howard Lavarea on keyboard.
