Avon, CO \u2013 The Town of Avon is proud to partner with Nashville-based event\u00a0production company Donahue Entertainment to welcome the debut of the Tenth\u00a0Mountain Storytellers August 18-19, 2017, at the Avon Performance Pavilion at Harry\u00a0A. Nottingham Park. The Town of Avon and Donahue Entertainment have worked\u00a0collaboratively over the past year on finding a special event to diversify the creative and\u00a0cultural events being offered at the Avon Performance Pavilion.<\/p>\n

Storytelling is a rapidly growing art form on the festival circuit, with thousands gathering\u00a0in the East Tennessee Smoky Mountains, the rugged outdoors of Utah and the\u00a0California coast. Avon is the perfect gathering place for storytellers from across the\u00a0nation to coalesce at the end of the summer. Tenth Mountain will give you the ability to\u00a0simply kick back on a picnic blanket and be entertained or to dive deeper into\u00a0storytelling by having national award winning storytellers help you with tips to craft your\u00a0own story. Harry A. Nottingham Park will come alive with creativity.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt has been a joy to work with the Town of Avon leadership to land on just the right idea\u00a0for the beautiful setting,\u201d says Don Donahue, of Nashville based Donahue\u00a0Entertainment. \u201cPartnering with storytelling groups like Spark Off Rose from\u00a0Hollywood, to individual storytellers affiliated with The Moth, as well as Boulder\u00a0Colorado, based Truth Be Told, I am confident we\u2019ve landed on a signature event to\u00a0set Avon apart for innovation and creativity with their events.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Town of Avon is excited to host Grammy and Tony award winning writers on the\u00a0picturesque Avon Performance Pavilion stage in August. \u201cThe inaugural year of Tenth\u00a0Mountain Storytellers brings a unique, enriching and spirited cultural gathering,\u201d said\u00a0Avon Mayor Jennie Fancher. \u201cRenowned storytellers from around the country will gather\u00a0in our little mountain town to share their stories and their craft. We are hopeful that this\u00a0will become an annual event that continues to grow as the art of storytelling gains\u00a0traction across the mainstream media.\u201d<\/p>\n

Truth Be Told founders Nina Rolle and Johanna Walker had this to say about lending\u00a0their talents to the inaugural Tenth Mountain Storytellers event, \u201cWe know there are\u00a0lots of storytellers and storytelling organizations around the country. What a delight to\u00a0get to be part of a new storyteller\u2019s event in our home state that brings so many of us\u00a0together. We humans really do connect through our stories, and Avon\u2019s setting gives us\u00a0a great opportunity for us to do just that!”<\/p>\n

The event kicks off Friday evening, with a VIP cocktail reception with the roster of talent,\u00a0and dinner on the Avon Event Terrace, and continues at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday morning\u00a0with storytelling events and breakout sessions the entire day. Saturday culminates with\u00a0the Truth Be Told Story Slam at 6:00 p.m., when the audience is invited to tell their\u00a0stories, followed by an evening of stories and songs with Grammy Award winning\u00a0songwriters and storytellers entertaining us under the stars.<\/p>\n

Confirmed Storytellers: Wayne Kirkpatrick (Grammy Award Winning Songwriter), Karey\u00a0Kirkpatrick (Screenwriter and Playwright who along with brother Wayne wrote 10x Tony\u00a0Nominated Broadway Smash Something Rotten), Jessica Tuck, Johanna Walker, Nina\u00a0Rolle, Shelagh Ratner, Amelia Earhart (9 News Denver), Tricia Rose Burt. Also joining\u00a0are Colorado based award winning Tellers Matthew Taylor, Jeremy Leonard, Rachel\u00a0Ann Harding, Cooper Braun, Jason Berkowitz, Nancy Norton and more being added\u00a0every week! Family\/Children\u2019s events will be announced in June.<\/p>\n
