{"id":12642,"date":"2016-06-22T15:07:25","date_gmt":"2016-06-22T15:07:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.vailvalleypartnership.com\/?p=12642"},"modified":"2016-06-22T15:07:25","modified_gmt":"2016-06-22T15:07:25","slug":"healthcare-in-the-high-country","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vailvalleypartnership.com\/2016\/06\/healthcare-in-the-high-country\/","title":{"rendered":"Healthcare in the High Country"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center\"><strong>Healthcare in the High Country<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Vail Symposium and Vail Valley Partnership present lecture and panel discussion on the evolving healthcare options and frustrations for mountain residents<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">\nVail, Colo. \u2013 Soaring costs, few choices and many complaints have highlighted conversations about healthcare for mountain residents as the Colorado Mountain Resort Region of Eagle, Summit, Pitkin and Garfield counties is repetitively named the most expensive insurance market in the United Sates.<br \/>\nBringing together state and local health leaders with small business owners in the Vail Valley, the Vail Symposium, in collaboration with the Vail Valley Partnership\u2019s Business Forum Series, will present a lecture and panel discussion on healthcare challenges and opportunities in Colorado\u2019s high country.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">\n&#8220;Healthcare costs and access to insurance remains a challenge for the Vail Valley business community,\u201d said Chris Romer, Vail Valley Partnership president and CEO. \u201cWe are thrilled to have State Insurance Commissioner Marguarite Salazar and our panel of local experts to discuss healthcare access and costs, and to provide updates to our local audience on their individual operations and how they are working to address these issues.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">\nMarguerite Salazar was appointed by Governor John Hickenlooper as Colorado Insurance Commissioner in 2013. She oversees the regulation of the insurance industry in Colorado. She was previously appointed by President Barack Obama as Regional Director for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Region VIII, where she played a role in the Department\u2019s effort to implement the Affordable Care Act.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">\nOther panelists include: Kathy Jacoby from Delta Dental of Colorado, Janel Allen-Davis of Kaiser Permanente Colorado, Janet Pogar from Anthem Blue Cross and Michael Holton of the Vail Valley Medical Center.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">\nWelcome and sign-in begins at 8 a.m. and the program begins at 8:30 a.m. at Colorado Mountain College in Edwards. Coffee and pastries will be provided.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">\nThis is the second program in a series the Vail Symposium and the Vail Valley Partnership have collaborated on in order to address difficult local issues. The first program held on June 14, \u201cThe Economic Status of Women in Colorado\u201d attracted more than 40 interested attendees. Other programs to follow include a look at the state of Eagle County\u2019s economy on September 14 and the state of Colorado\u2019s economy on November 1.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">\n\u201cOur first program collaboration made it clear that locals care about these issues and it is important to bring forth honest information,\u201d said Rohn Robbins, current chairman of the Board of Directors for the Vail Symposium. \u201cWith this information, attendees can go forward with making the appropriate decisions on a number of applicable instances.
